My grandson and I left the Stockyards after 2 days of roaming the streets looking at the shops, eating the food, and visiting the museums. I would say that the Ft. Worth Stockyards was a success.
So with the Stockyards in our rearview mirror, we decided to embark on another journey to the Ft. Worth Zoo. website: https://www.fortworthzoo.org/
I love zoos. I really do. And I really love zoos when they have my favorite animals. Ok. So here is a moment when people think I've really lost it. I want to be an animal therapist. Yes, that's what you read. An animal therapist. I'm not sure that an animal therapist is an actual job, but I know that I would love to be one.
So here are some of the features of our visit to the Ft. Worth Zoo.
On the day we went, it was half price day. (see price chart below)
Easy to navigate around the zoo
Paths around exhibits seemed to flow around the animals from different points of view
Exhibits were made to look and feel like the animal's natural habitat
The Texas animals section was really cute. It was like stepping into an old western town
Most of the animals were out and soaking in the sun
We saw all of the zoo comfortably in one day
The zoo seemed to be very kid-friendly
The food at one of the restaurants was delicious, and the portion sizes were very generous
I liked that the zoo had plenty of trees, which meant lots of shade when the temperature started to rise
Overall, the Ft. Worth Zoo was a great choice as an impromptu or planned destination.
